that's pretty cool!! We didnt' have turtles to worry about but still, what a waste of beer and it could lead to awkward conversations with the spouse too...."hey honey, I need to buy a six pack cuz I'm having the slugs over tonight" "yeah, I'm glad to see you finally realized how they act!" .

Oh, sure... I mention the beer solution first, but you quoted him in your reply, instead.

Which one?

Good point. There's only 20 or 30 to choose from, right?

Chocolate. Proper English chocolate. You'll be after Thornton's or the like. English chocolate is made differently to your Hershey's stuff.

Also, English Tea (if they're tea drinkers) - Whittard (external link)'s make good quality tea and coffee..

Good suggestions. I know my mom likes Tea. the wife not so much. Chocolate is a good option but we don't want to fatten our women up. I will mention both of those to him and let HIM decide though.

From past experience, the joy that good chocolate brings to the female of the species far outweighs any thoughts of it being "fattening".

Put it this way. If you buy it, it will not end up in the trash. Neither will you get more than a couple of squares....

English chocolate IS indeed good. I've had it on a number of occasions. Hopefully he can resist the urge to eat it himself before he gets here... Sometimes the layovers can be brutal.

My nephew always brings candies and chocolates for the kids. Their favorites are the ones that have toys inside.

See.. Here's the trick to this conundrum...

He buys two packs of chocolate. One pack that he likes, and one pack that he doesn't (usually fillings of a fruit persuasion), and them eats the pack that he likes (unseen by the womenfolk).

Then, there is no guilt or jealousy in handing over the inferior flavoured chocolate.
