Mine rolls over also. Our cap is 420 hours. If I hit 420 hours, I stop accruing until I use some. I really take advantage of my vacation time, though. I take a lot of time off. It's been years since I was in danger of maxing out. When I was on Saint Joe's payroll, I could also cash out up to 200 hours per year and take the money instead of the time. I did that two or three times in the past. But, now that our department is under corporate control in Washington state, I can't do that any more. The cash out policy was a local one, not corporate wide.

Technically, we don't even get sick leave. It's really all part of the same PTO bank for us. Payroll does calculate vacation and sick time separately, but the hours all go to the same bank with that 420 hour cap. It doesn't matter if we call in sick or schedule a vacation, the time comes out of there. And, if someone leaves the company for whatever reason (quit, retire, fired), that bank gets cashed out completely.

We do accrue ESL (Extended Sick Leave) that goes to a separate bank, but that's only available to those who are out for an extended period of time, as the name implies. In other words, maternity leave, surgery and recovery, etc. I forget the length of time we'd have to be away from work before we start drawing from the ESL bank, but it's something like two weeks. Until that point we'd be getting paid from our PTO hours. There is no cap for the ESL bank, and there's no way to cash it out under any circumstances. If we never use it, we just lose it.

These new mods do not have the skill and the timing of the old ones. I leave for my holiday tomorrow and everybody knows that this tread only moves to a new location when I am away in the forlorn hope that I will be unable to find it.......
