I could see they weren't right before I posted, colour completely off , but the shape seemed to be there and before their 'new' status went I decided to 'post' them

it was when I was leaving the racecourse last week after taking pictures
(no bets )

Looks like you went crazy with the shadow/highlight option in photoshop. Pictures would look better if the shadows were a little darker and more natural IMO.

I think it was the camera settings I used
turning the camera up to the sky would have upset the balance a bit

I very rarely, if ever, use the shadow /highlight options on any of my shots
