I heard someone refer to Fong LS rig as Tupperware, and I was bored, so I found an appropriate size bit of Tupperware to test the claim.

Here is the plastic

And here are the results, shot at a bookcase in a dark corner of my office. (Shots with the 50mm 1.8 ISO 100 1sec exp)

The tupperware definitely defuses the light better, the shadows are softer and the lighting more even.

So? You make the call! :p

I used Photoshop elements. You just overlay the pictures as layers in the order you want them to show up, then chose 'Save for the web". In the dialog box that comes up, choose file type GIF and check the "Animate" box. You have to choose the duration that each layers shows up, but you can experiment and see what works for you.

Thanks. Elements appears to have a capability that I can't find in Paintshop Pro X...save for web with animate. Drat

I dont know, instead of an animation, post one pic after another. Im having a hard time visually seeing the difference.

No problem. Made them smaller so you could see more than one at a time.

Wilt,

Any app that lets you create an animated GIF will do it. CS3 or the older ImageReady works just fine. As long as there aren't too many frames or too large an image you can get the optimized size down to not exceed the upload maximum.

The relative value of Tupperware vs. a $50 Fong is demonstrated once again. It could also have been done with a wonton soup take-out container, where the container comes 'for free' and you get to enjoy the soup.

Y'know I am getting downright sick of hearing all these justifications for why I need to purchase software for $650...first Layers, now animated GIF! ;)

Hehe this is what i like to see - DIY all the way!

Only thing you might have to be careful of is colour casts due to the, maybe only slightly, off white colour of the plastic

but in today's digital age you're fine =]

Might try this myself!

Pick up a copy of GIMP. It's $650 cheaper, and does both those things ;)

Robert was the guy suggesting the $650 package of Photoshop CS3...maybe he wouldn't be such a great business partner in the SoupSphere franchise business after all! ;)

Thanks for the GIMP tip, bieber!
