Hi All,

I have a G-2 that the battery will go dead if I leave it sit overnight, ( camera is off)
It has been back to Canon 2 times for this problem, with no good results.

Any ideas

Thanks

Scott

Hi Scott, and welcome to the forum.:D
About this battery, how old is it? Do you have others? I'm thinking it might be time to look into a replacement for it. While we're on the subject, Canon recommends removing the battery while the camera is not in use. I never adhere to this though, and so far, so good.

Did you sent the camera or the battery to Canon?
Had a similar problem and when the battery was sent to Canon for service, the reply was that the "battery pack is defective as life span has ended" and they asked me to buy a new one.

Lithium Ion batteries start to die from the moment of manufacture, charging and heat only serve to speed this process up with heat being the biggest killer. They also prefer regular top up charges rather than being discharged, maybe the battery is simply dead?

Ok,

More info on this,

Battery is rather new, only taken about 100 pic with it, has been charged.

If I leave the battery in the camera, and the camera is off, and let it sit for the day, or overnight, the battery goes dead. If I take the battery out of the camera and let it sit for the same period of time, then put it back in the camera, it is ok.

I think that something in the camera is draining on the battery even though the camera is off.

Scott

Scott, I'm fresh out of ideas, aside from pull the battery at night. And if you do, what is the battery life like while the camera is in use?
