What info do you need to make me up some more protectors? length with all four legs extended? width or diameter? cheers All I need to know is the length you want. The diameter I use should fit pretty much any tripod leg diameter out there. Just include the length size in the paypal payment notes along with where you want them shipped and thatll be good enough. mayuka wrote in post #9961653 Would be nice to see some photos of the leg protectors... The only picture I have of them right now is in this review in post #12 LINK, but I am going to put together a listing for them in the classifieds section soon and link to it in my sig and that will hopefully have more pics, details and user comments/suggestions. More something like these here:https://www.photoproshop.com …ath/25_139/products_id/35 I think the only downside is that they suck in water when it rains? ![]() ![]() Oh I see. No were talking about protection for the legs, those are more for comfort if youre carrying your tripod on your shoulder (which isnt a safe idea anyway). [Gear List | Flickr

It helped me spend some $$$ on the Gitzo 1541T Tripod, Gitzo C1201T Case and the Markins Q3T LR Ballhead, latest version w/ LR. I used it a few times last week on a family vacation in the southwest where i was able to do some shooting but it wasn't a dedicated photo vacation. I found the Markins Q3T LR Ballhead to generally work well and be a nice piece of kit. The tripod and ballhead work well together, and the tripod with legs folded back fits w/ ballhead mounted in this case. The ballhead required some initial adjustment to fit the RRS L bracket on my 7D. After that it was a nice fit and the lever release is a pretty secure action. I've got another Gitzo w/ a RRS-BH40 LR and I'll say the RRS is beefier but the Q3T gets the job done and is a nice package w/ the Traveler. Here are a few action shots. Regards Best of luck with the new gear and use it in the best of health. I'd be careful about raising that center column as much as you've got it up. That makes it more like a monopod in terms of vibration, esp. in on a windy day. I just stoop over mine. PITA, but better than a fuzzy shot. Jay

I am about to order gt1541t with Markins Q3T. One thing I do not understand is why should I replace Marking quick release plate with RRS? The new Markins balls come with QR that looks pretty good even compared to RRS? Any good reason why I should drop extra $120 on this? Order the ball without any QR. Then buy the RRS release and send it to Markins to install on the ball. They will only charge you the postage. Jay

The Markins lever QR doesn't have a track record yet. That's MHO. Hello,

Of course he probably didn't need to raise it all the way to the top, but there's also the issue of perspective when it comes to composing that picture. I don't want to second guess what he would have done in that case though.

I wouldn't think 12 inches is going to make much difference to the perspective of those formations in the distance. Canon 7D | 17-55 f/2.8 | 70-200 f/4 | 50 f/1.8 | 580EX | 430EX

I did said he didn't have to raise it all the way. It appears that the fence is in the way so I'd imagine he would have to raise the centre column by a bit anyways.

How can you order it without plate? The website only allows to order with? You cant, when you order it, you call them and ask them to not Loctite the clamp onto the ballhead, then when you receive it you sell the clamp to help fund the RRS one. [Gear List | Flickr
