1/320 is the fastest I can sync (without any issue) using a 30d.

Same here. Just got mine today. No problem doing 1/320 sec using 1dmk2. That's fastest I could do using pc sync cord.

Please excuse my ingnorance, but to put the RX'er on my 430ex, I still would need to purchase this http://www.flashzebra.com/wizardcables/hotshoe.shtml (external link) right? Or do the connectors that come with the Cybersync's take care of everything?

(and if I do need the adapter, does Flashzebra have any connectors hidden in the back room for POTN members ;))

I am sorry if this was asked sooner, I just didn't see it before.

I have not received my Cybersyncs yet but I imagine the cord with the PC end would work with a standard hotshoe w/PC adapter. While the unit Flashzebra sells is undoubtedly more secure I'm not sure it's necessary.

And congrats to FlashZebra for being directly linked from the AB site.

I would like to see someone test the sync speed of the Cybersyncs like I did with the Elinchrom Skyports as shown below. Just aim two flash units at the ceiling or a bare wall, connect one to your camera's PC socket with a cord and use the radio transmitter on the hotshoe at the same time.

This test works best with the flash units set to low power for a short flash duration.

Flashzebra has this adaptor in stock and it works great with exceptional build quality:

Curtis, not sure what does testing using 2 flash at same time proves compared to say testing using 1 flash only, first with sync cord and then with cybersync?

I just tested using cybersync on my 1dmk2 and no problems with AB800 or AB400 when using 1/320sec. At 1/400sec, I get black bar like your experiment. Haven't tried my 550ex yet.

Curtis, not sure what does testing using 2 flash at same time proves.

For one thing, it will only take you half as long to conduct the tests.

For another thing, it illustrates in a quantitative way the amount of delay induced by the radio system.

To say that "this system will sync at 1/250" is bogus. There are other variables involved that can affect the max sync speed. Having your experimental control in the same exposure, and using the same model flash at the same power setting, eliminates any chance that the difference may be caused by other factors.

I would do the test Curtis N....but I lack the correct sync cable (or the wrong hotshoe adapter).

So if I get this adapter, I will be able to use the cables that come with the Cybersync?

Thanks all.

I agree that's is why I was asking.

Yes, unless your flash already has a slot to accept one of the cables that come with the cybersyncs. But for the 430EX & the Sunpak 355, that is an affirmative.

Here is my quick comparison using pc cord vs cybersync. Since I had only 1 550ex, I had to run the test first with cord and then with the cybersync. Kept same settings.

Camera used was 1dmk2.

IMAGE: http://www.bobbyzphotography.com/img/v3/p782484370-5.jpg

I had the camera in portrait orientation, that's why black bar is on th right hand side.

Thanks, Bobby. Looks like the Cybersync is as fast or faster than the Skyports.
