Ben,

I have no agenda. I post like anyone else does.
If you don't like it then that's on you.

Maybe you should start going through threads one at a time and let everyone else know how you feel.

All you posts TMR seem to only try to boost about PW. This is a thread about the cybersync system. So you you dont have one or plan to get one why are you even commneting? Maybe you need to remember what your momma should have taught you "If you dont have anything good to say DO NOT say anything at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

LOL!
I don't think he has an agenda. He does seem to buy only the best. One can agree that PWs are better. Of course if you never use that betterness then it would not be needed.

I am looking at the CyberSynce to save some cash and not shed a tear if I break one...

Robert and I have a good repoire, we've jointly conducted a number of tests and we endorse many of the same products. So take his snipes at me as a friendly elbox in the ribs.

Robert- I only commented on the fact that this thread is about the cybersync system. Like a lot of other I used this to learn more about the product and decided to buy. Your comments just didnt seem pertinent to the main purpose of this thread. It would be the same if someone had a thread about Honda motorcycles and you say WELL Harley's are better. This might be true but just like the fact that you can buy 3 Honda's for the same as a Harley. I was able to buy 2 recievers and a transmitter for the same as it would have costed to buy one single PW.

Your points are valid ones. But we veterans who have suffered the pains of products chosen for lowest price know that their shortcomings are often not ones that can be overlooked, even on a budget! And for that reason, bringing up shortcomings serves to the betterment of the potential owners' decision making validity, letting them make informed decisions based on fact and not on the wallet alone. Look at how many cheap tripods are thrown away! This thread might have been about $80 tripods, not remotes! Would you fault Robert or me about bringing up Manfrotto tripods when someone is considering the Kmart special tripod on sale?

The cybersnycs are not the lowest price ones. That falls to the getto triggers from ebay. I first tried those and was upset with them being inconsitant and not firing. So far I have only test my new cybersync in the studio and the have worked great. I even walked outside into the parking lot a about 150 feet away and it still as firing I cant wait to get to use them in a gym shooting sports in a month. I looked at the cost issues and PW were way over kill. There is nothing about a PW to me that justifies the added cost. Shooting sports in high school gyms the range the cybersync has will even be over kill.

sorry this may seem like a really dumb question, but is there a difference the CSR
(receiver) and the CSRB (battery powered receiver) and when would you use each one. i guess from what i'm thinking is wouldn't you need the battery powered receiver attached to the flash in all situations?

Nothing against Cybersync, I own a transmitter and receiver to remotely trigger my studio flash with my non-PW compatible meter! This is not depending upon the unit to fire my flash in a field shooting situation. Apart from the Chinese bargain basement unit and a Flashpoint one from Adorama, only the Cybersync are under $130, ...all the others are >$200, sometimes double and even almost triple the price of the Cybersync!

Quantum, PW, and a number of others (all higher priced units) have a history of field-proven reliable service for professionals. Time will tell how good the Cybersync is at meeting that standard.

CSR is AC powered only, the CSRB does not use AC

The original AB radio receivers were AC powered receivers only - for the studio lights which had to be plugged in anyway. Since then lots has changed and they started marketing the Cybersync line - and even that originally only had an AC receiver. Now they've added the battery powered receivers, I would guess to take advantage of a market niche between the eBay remotes and the Skyport/PW units price-wise.

so if I were to use these with flash units that run off batteries, i would use the battery powered receivers?

also, is there anyway to check to see if the cybersync are compatible with the sigma ef 500 super line?

thanks in advance.

The battery powered Cybersync receivers will work with either battery powered flash or studio strobes.

I can't help you with the Sigma question. I do know a couple of the Sigma flash units behave badly with remotes. I'm sure someone will chime in on that.

Right. That's what they're made for.

I don't see why they wouldn't work. Keep in mind you'll need to put the Sigma Super in a special mode to get it to work with a hotshoe adapter. See FlashZebra's instructions here:
http://www.flashzebra.com …gmamanualmode/index.shtml (external link)

Sigma's ST (not Super) models will not work with a hotshoe adapter and are basically worthless off-camera.
