My only RR track shot. In Hartford, CT passing under Woodland St. near the old Sealtest milk processing plant. I was evaluating the old building for a client interested in buying it when I snapped the photo. Nothing special but look at the tank seeming to burst through the wall of the building.

I kid, I kid. I'm of oriental origin myself, plus I actually fit the stereotype :)

Jim

Jim I just noticed that's the Austin Organ building in the background. Don Austin who just passed away a month or so ago, and a good friend was a real train buff and would talk about how he could watch the trains from his building. Here is a photo of the CNEZ engine where it is parked in Windsor near where the Griffins Station of the original CNE was

I read the article in the Courant when Austin died. Very interesting life he had. I've always been fascinated by the pipe organ builders and every once in a while I have a chance to get into the innards of these huge instruments. It's an amazing profession. Sad to know that he's gone.

Jim

I was wondering for a second if you were talking about other pipes
which maybe could be called 'organ pipes'
(in construction business )

just wasn't sure Jim
(being that trains and tracks were being discussed)

this is the organ in the local military church up in the army camp nearby.
I took the shot in the gallery which is high up in the church

thanks

I think you will be interested in this
in a nearer church
I happened in ,
saw it:eyes:rolleyes: :eyes

laughed to myself

( & just happened to have the camera handy )

I read that just now thanks Sandy

seems he has a cat, Siam, which will miss him :(
there are three cats shown with photos in one section, but their names are not listed
and he had a sister 'Jane' (r.i.p.)
I imagine she was named after Jane Austin (the English writer)
who knows
my aunt (da's sister) played the organ
she is dead now too

your photo (above) is lovely too.
I like all the pictures here.
and the narrow rickity tracks one.
something about it

:)

Thanks for the Austin Organs link. Fascinating reading! Their body of work is amazing  Just their work in Hartford alone is unbelievable. I've heard some of those organs and the one at Trinity College is one that was fortunate to get into. The were making some modifications that affectedsupport for the organ and I was investigating the conditions. No pix, drat!
