Welcome to the forum!

I like No.2 even not being able to tell what it is. I would had relocated that wood in the 1st shot to clean it up a bit.

I like them both. Did you pull the gate for the picture? It looks like it's still a working chute.

Yeah, nice closeups, but the shots don't give a great view of the whole thing.

Welcome, btw, looking forward to more of your work.

Thank you everyone.. The gate has been like that for years I think.

I would have liked to get wider shots, I was taking my friends Canon 70-200 for a test drive... I'm beginning to think I at least need to pick up a canon kit lens cause all I have is a Cosina 28-210 and I can definitely tell a huge difference.

What part of the world was this in? :)

The 70-200 is one of Canons sharpest lenses. Mine certainly is. Also, if you can afford it, always buy the Canon lenses, as the long ones especially are much better suited to Canon bodies that off brand. Although, I do have a Sigma Macro and a Tokina wide angle that are great lenses. :)

I think the exposure is handled very well, and the colour looks splendid. I share the views of the other commenters about the composition.

Having said that, I'd be quite content with images like that.

Welcome aboard.

Welcome to POTN....the shots came out well considering the lens limitation. A wide angle sure would have helped in this case. Looks like a nice place to revisit to test future new lenses!

What part of the world was this in? :)

This was in the Smokey Mts. on the roaring fork trail.

Thank you again everyone, I've only had my camera (xti) for a month now so hopefully I will get better.
