I spend most of my time shooting sports, but being unable to put the camera down for 10 days I ended up taking a bunch of photos on holiday. Rather than just snap away (did that as well), I was trying to reproduce some of the very cool shots that are seen in the high end travel mags. With that in mind I'd appriciate your feed back on those below.

All are straight out of the camera- sharpened and cropped 6x4. Most of the time I was using a 4 stop grad to bring the skies down, with the exception of 8 which I've (now) tweaked as it was way to flat from shooting in to the sun. - UPDATE Images now changed in line with the feed back ....

1. Fairly standard stuff ... BTW every tried opening a coconut straight off the tree with a sharp rock - took us ages

2. I've no idea why this is on the sand on Mystery Island, but everyone carefully walked around it ... Idea behind the shot is isolation

3. Standard "Topical Island"

4. Again a standard Travle Agent shot

5. This just made me laugh, but it seemed to fit the overall scope I was aiming for

6. Airline magazine shot - fly the clear blue skies to a tropical paradise

7. Travel Agent poster of just about anywhere you want (it's great having an always available model that loves to have her photo taken)

8. The "I want" shot ... the idea is that you want to be on that beach and that cruise

Feed back is welcomed

Cheers Dave

If you were trying to replicate travel brochures and ariline mags, you definitely succeeded. Perfect call on No. 6 -- could've sworn I've seen that pic on the cover of Hemispheres (United Airlines rag). My fave is probably No. 8, but I'd straighten that horizon a bit.

I cannot choose a favorite:) Nice shots!

...But still the clever north wind was not satisfied. It spoke to her of towns yet to be visited, friends yet to be discovered...

Nice images. That sign is hilarious!

I like number four a lot, but it could have been better if the boat was a little further to the right in the image, and less centred.

The shot of the woman doing a cartwheel is cool too because you captured the sand flick from her foot leaving the ground. Very nice.
