Still hunting for a small external USB drive with ac adaptor to use with the Epson that is troublefree.

The Lacie 160GB Rugged Drive with Ac adaptor will not work consistently with the Epson.

There are tons of these drives out there all USB powered and without the AC adaptor.

Thanks Folks

I'm also having the problems trying to get my external hard drives (WD Passport Essential) to connect to the P3000. The only time I can get the P3000 to work consistently with a USB device is if I connect a card reader to it and have the P3000 powered via AC. So, I've just about given up all hopes of doing anything useful with the USB port on the P3000. :(

Leo, I called Epson and they refuse to tell me what external drives they tested with, They just say "it should work" as long as the external usb drive has a ac adaptor for power and formatted FAT32.

I tried the Lacie mentioned and took it back, I plan to escalate the issue again on Monday with Epson Canada, their video brags about the ability to back up to an external device, then they need to prove it!

Lets stay in touch, perhaps you can call Epson in the US and together we might come up with something?

Let me know.

Not strictly an external HD, but my Archos 404 Media player worked as I was able to copy stuff from my P3000 to the Archos.
