These are all un-cropped and shot using Av @ f4 or Tv @ 1/1200 ?

they are un-cropped. I used Tv mode but didn't much so i use manually. Most at f/8 @1/800 or 1/1000

more than enough? i doubt it. (unless you stay pretty close to the water). :) Bring your 1.4x tc.

How long is the Honda open surf go on for? Do you think a 1d with a 70-200mm f/2.8 from the pier would suffice?

From the pier you might, but get there EARLY there is about 400,000 folks expected to attend...:shock:

If you stay at the pier (upper part) then it should be ok. :)

I would say the middle part, at the end you might get their back only. Sort like where the sand and water meet to give you some angle...last year is was SO crowed it was point less...
