The softness goes with the suns rays hitting the lens. I would guess that is all due to forward scatter, or flare.

Again, the horizon looks accidental, and I would straighten it.

More space should be left at the left so that she is entering the picture - not leaving it.

Yes thanks Robert i will try a different crop and you were as all ways spot on with your analogy....

I must remember to get the horizon thing sorted...
