The 468MG is a good ballhead. But, it is not as smooth as the Markins. The prices on them have come down considerably since I bought mine. Personally, I would spend a little more and get a Markins.

Well I went with the Manfrotto 468 http://www.bhphotovide​o.com …static_Ballhead​_with.html (external link) cause they did not have a Wimberly in stock(or Acra Swiss), nor even carry Markins. Still have yet to see one. Its not like I cant buy another head if I dont like this one. So far its the least expensive part I have bought!!!

I see no problems with this head, its VERY smooth, holds my 100-400 VERY nice. The friction ball works like a charm and does not flop over. It pans well too. Plus the quick release works fine too.:)

Well its 1000% better than my Vivitar.:D

Good info here... Markins is tempting... soon will need to decide regarding a set up...

My vibration problem is on my outdoor deck... When trying to get bird shots or moon shots with a long telephoto zoom, the floor boards transfer vibrations while I stand on them...
