Here are a couple of shots, C&C welcome on any/all of them.

1) Mossy growth next to the boardwalk at the beach. I had to lighten it up as it was too close for flash and not enough light. I also added a blue filter to this. This was just about at sunrise.

2) Perspective shot around the same time. This is a little warmed up.

4) Moonset at sunrise.

5) Sunrise, underexposed by -2 to get the silhouettes of the rocks and lifeguard tower. I have at 0 and +0.5 as well, if anyone cares to see them.

They are all pretty nice.

1) Too blue for me and I am not completely sure what the subject is. I think it is the rock on the left, but then it gets cut off at the bottom.

2) Nice, a bit too cool (blue) for me and background is a bit overexposed.

3) Horizon is crooked and the wood railing ends too soon for me (would have like to see it terminate exactly at the upper-left corenr of the frame).

4) Too much deadspace, frame the buidling/house and the moon more (zoom in).

5) I would have like to see you frame up the sun and the lifeguard tower a bit more (fill frame with only the sun in the upper left and the tower in the lowerish right).

It was really the black/blue/green colors rather than the objects.

Yeah I have like 30 shots on this space alone, I was trying to get both in, but even with -2,0,+2 I couldn't get both the sky and the rocks to be in proper exposure. I decided there wasn't much to see in the sky anyway. In the original description I said I warmed it up, that was incorrect, I cooled it down with a blue filter sorry. It might be too much but I'm usually drawn to more of the cold pictures.

3) Horizon is crooked and the wood railing ends too soon for me (would have like to see it terminate exactly at the upper-left corenr of the frame).

You're right, I fixed it in 2, missed it here, I must have moved my tripod after setting it up and didn't realize bubble was off.

4) Too much deadspace, frame the buidling/house and the moon more (zoom in).

I think the water line adds something, the only dead space is either the very top or top and left? But framing the moon to the corner makes it look weird, no?

5) I would have like to see you frame up the sun and the lifeguard tower a bit more (fill frame with only the sun in the upper left and the tower in the lowerish right).

I do agree that it would have been a good shot. The one I had setup for was the sun shining through the windows of the tower, but by the time I dragged my butt down there to get into the focal range and set it up the sun was too high up in the sky and too bright.

This was all at a little impromptu. I woke up at 4:10am for no good reason, went to dunking donuts for a cup of coffee and instead of turning around and coming home just drove to beach. Next time I'll have a better shot list planned in my head.

There are not bad shots by any means.

As for #4, I think the shoreline resembles another "horizon" which conflicts with the actual horizon. But this is just my opinion, if you like it, then by all means keep it the same; it is not your job to satisfy my photographic desires (thats my job).

I'm the same way, I usually have to go to a place at least twice to get some really decent shots. First trip I always consider a warm-up trip and every trip after I can plan what I'm going to do and how I'm going to do it (since I know what is there).

You're lucky to be located near so many interesting places to shoot, not stuck in "seen it 1000000 times before" Texas. :p

I really should appreciate my surroundings a little more. I have wine country 20 miles to the east and new york city 50 to west. Beaches north and south with-in 5-10 miles. But then I do end up with 'there is nothing to shoot here' when I see some other people landscapes. I think I miss mountains and lakes.

I like them....a good series of shots (especially the first...love those colours)until I get to the last one.
With the sun that high above the horizon there's no way on earth it could possibly be that dark; it just doesn't look "right" to me that way. I see what you're after though. Go back and reshoot sometime after the sun has set....long exposure. Would love to see that.
