Using Sigma 150mm macro as tele...

I was wondering if anyone here have any experience using this lens as a tele lens... and in particular having used it with either a x1.4 or x2 tele converter... AND can provide sample pictures taken in such a setup... I'm wondering about the sharpness of the lens in such a situation.

i'm sure it will be fine. i've heard it's a sharp lens and this is on my list for a macro lens and i dont see any problems with it being used a normal lens

Allan,,, I team up my Sigma EX 50-150mm F/2.8 APO regularily with my Tamron SP AF 1.4x TC with great results.. You Sigma EX 150mm F/2.8 will be similar or probably even better with a good quality 1.4X TC..

Tamron?!... I have never heard them mentioned as a good TC... are you satisfied with yours? I've always heard that kenko and canon ruled that world... but what do I know.. I dont own a TC yet.

Allan,,as good as it gets.. I have a SP AF 1.4X TC (the white model).. I've owned mine for a few years now,,,brilliant TC.. When I worked for a newspaper we were issued with Canon 1.4X TCs.. I did a comparision and couldn't tell the difference in image quality and the good part is the Tamron is around half the price of the Canon.. Another positive about the Tamron is they work with most lenses,,the Canons don't.. Sigma also make nice TCs..
