I got a lead on a different osprey nest where I could get closer and not have to stack teleconverters. All of these osprey are brought to you courtesy of the Twin Cities Osprey Project
, which has worked for the last 20+ years to restore the once-eliminated osprey to southern Minnesota. There are now over 50 active osprey nests in the Twin cities as a result of the program!
This nest has three chicks which are big enough to be visible in the photo. The chicks are pretty big so I suppose they will be fledging soon. In the meantime, the female (on the left) keeps a watchful eye.
Here one of the chicks is practicing its wing flapping. They aren't ready to fly quite yet, but will be soon.
This is the male. He's just delivered a fish to the nest and flew off to a nearby tree.
