Ok, I processed some pictures in PS, had them developed at a walgreens and the colors are off.. Is it something on their end that's messed up? is my monitor color off? or Photoshop's color?

Any help? I need to know whats the deal and how to make sure what I'm seeing on my monitor is what is actually there.

thanks!

Two basic steps - one, calibration your monitor (with a reputable hardware device), and two, make sure your files are sRGB (not Adobe RGB or anything else).

That should get you satisfactory results, in most cases.

Get a hardware colorimeter, such as the Spyder Express or Huey. They're around US$80 or so.

"Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.

Yep, that'll definitely contribute to your problem. sRGB is the way to go.

Eye One Display Two by X-Rite is the thing to get.

Stay away from the Huey and other low-cost calibrators. They simply don't work.

Of course they do. That's why they're usually recommended. Besides, the Eye One 2 is nearly $200!

Then again, I've read of quite a few problems with huey and Spyder 2 calibrators. So there are definitely cases in which they don't work. That being said, quite a few people use them and are happy with the result.

On setting the *display* profile: That's about as wrong as you can get ;)

Have a read in the link from my sig.

Color management is crucial.

It's not a good idea to save 120$ on a calibration tool, and mess up colors of images shot with equipment costing thousands.

I didn't know that at first, and bought a Huey.

It produced a nice green tint on my monitor, very close to the green of the Vietnam era Huey helicopters.

That's how the Huey calibrator got its name. And its return to where I bought it from.

Sounds like you're doing something wrong. My $80 Spyder2Express is spot on.

No, not a pilot error (there are no controls anyway).

Airplane error.

My Eye One Display Two is very good, and no trouble.
