I am doing some remodeling at my home and I intend to repaint the room that I will be using as a small in home studio. I use AB800 for lighting with muslin back drops and I was wondering if there was a way that the room should be painted for overall better light/light control. Anyone with some experience have an opinion on this?

I like neutral grey(ish). The walls don't matter too much, but something neutral is good - nothing garish like bright red or blue for example (which can reflect back as colored light, a.k.a. radiosity). A lot of people like white or black.

If you want optimum control and to avoid spill/flaring then black is best. If you want to be able to bounce off the walls and use them as backdrops then go for a neutral grey. I'd advise against white as it will just bounce light everywhere whether you like it or not.

Thanks for the feed back everyone. Outside of color, what about finish? Flat, Satin, Eggshell, etc.?

Any other than gloss. The key is that the color be neutral. The finish is secondary. But again stay away from gloss.

Ideally, something neutral in color and a flat finish. There's nothing wrong with a room with white walls but you're going to get a lot of reflection and bounce that may not always be desirable. You could also have a dark room or one with black walls but that's just plain gloomy and uninviting, and since it's not going to bounce much light at all so in that respect any and all light has to be created by you. With a gray wall you're somewhere in the middle, allowing some light to bounce around, but in a very controlled way.

Don't sweat over the color being middle gray or 18% gray. That's not important, and your walls are not going to be used for white balance or exposure, although in a pinch I have used my gray wall as my reference for custom white balance and it worked well.
