Canon 9000 rebate

Hi I was wondering if anyone had tried to do the current rebate with the 40D or 5D with the secondary or third upc code from the printer?

in my excitment I thought I cutout the 3 UPC codes but somehow I missed the original one and the canon rebate form clearly says it will not accept the secondary which sort of sucks because the last rebate you had to use the second one

so now I am probably out 300 bucks and I am ticked off big time.

I bought the 5d with the pro9000 printer rebates last year. After I sent everything in, I got an email saying I had made some mistake and would not be eligible for the rebate. I scanned my purchase receipts and upc codes and emailed them (pdf's) to the rebate center. It took some time, but they eventually notified me that the rebate checks were in the mail (one for the printer and another for the 5d) - $500, which helped finance the 200mm f2.8 L prime lens.

Hang in there. Keep pushing for the rebates you are due. Be patient and I bet you'll get your rebates.

well I sent it in today and wrote them a little note on what happened, I doubt they will give me the 300 bucks, so this will be the second time I got screwed by them, last time it was not my fault at all they said I didn't send them the correct info which was a load of crap

oh well its only 300 bucks I guess

Any television or newspaper consumer reporters in your area that may be able to help?

They actually give you a picture on the form which one to cut out.

duvallian gave you the hint. Just don't give up.

They have tight rules, but I don't think they are in the market for screwing you up.

Think of someone employed as a rebate processor. He has rigid rules what he can accept and what not.

This way, it's easier to take the red tape. You don't have the impression they are after you.

(PS: they ARE after you. But this is a good method to fool yourself).

PS2: I never joke. All I say I mean. Literally. And at night I play Bingo, and scream "checkmate" before someone else does. And insist I have won the game.

This is good to know, since I'm about to submit my stuff for the 5D and 9000.

Does anyone know if they have to have been purchased together? I bought mine on different days at different stores.

Yes, they absolutely have to have been purchased on the same receipt from the same store at the same time. It's spelled out on the form.

You can, however, still take the $100 rebate for the printer by itself.

Sorry, actually I'm in Canada and I just realized the rebate is different. I emailed them and they said it's fine as long as they are both submitted together. Like I said, I think the rebate is a bit different up here - on my form it doesn't say anything about it, which is why I was unsure. I should have just checked this out before I posted.

so 2 months later I get it back, rejected !!! so I called this # 18008284040 that I found in a google search, explained to them what happened, and that I already sent a letter explaining this, they took all my info and they are supposed to call me back in 24-48hrs

its a piece of cardboard I really dont understand why they are so picky on this, I mean the UPC is the same on the pri,sec & third UPC on it, if someone already filed one they would know and then I would have no issue with them denying it.

so I guess I will found out soon if they will allow it or not hopefully yes its 300 bucks

'Why' is simply to raise the number of hoops people have to jump through, expressly to reduce their (Canon's) payout. These are not the first complaints about Canon as this article describes.

oh trust me I know about their hoops, the last time they had double rebates I sent in for 3 things and only got approved for 2, and I am 100% sure that it was all done right because I had exact copies of what I sent them

its a little ridiculous

so the day after I posted they actually sent me an email, asking for the printer serial #, I reply with that, the next day they reply again asking if I had purchased a camera with it because it was a 100 vs 300 difference, said send me the invocie of the camera and they will send me the rebate out quickly

so I sent it to them so now lets see if I get it or not

if so I will say I am quite happy, the phone call and emails I have had with them has been excellent !!

and guess what I got today !!!!

yup my check for 300 bucks !!!!!

so don't be afraid to call them and give them some feedback if they are trying to deny your rebate a few phone calls and emails were well worth the 300 bucks to me

all in all I am pretty happy with the service I received, it turned out to be much less of a challenge than I expected

so +1 for Canon
