I've enjoyed looking at all the PS before & after threads in other forums, but I didn't see a thread for one in sports. If I missed it, please point me in the right direction. I figure this will give all you creative sorts a chance to show your wares with Photoshop before & after skills with sports shots.

Here's your chance to remove an unwanted person or thing or resurrect what you initially thought might be a blown shot. Using Photoshop, make it the image you really wanted.

I thought I'd start us out with something fairly simple. When I took this shot, I kinda liked the action of the shot at first, but I didn't like the partial player in the background. It's not the world's greatest sports shot by any means, but I learned a few new things in trying to erase the disembodied leg. Fortunately, the "keeper" shot was one in a series of the play, and I was able to grab part of the background from another shot and blend it in. The trick was making it look as seamless as possible.

Enjoy! I can't wait to see what others post!

I guess the other was too wide, but see if you can see a smaller version now. Sorry! I'm still learning here...

That's talented PP, but now the shot can't be published anywhere.

QFT

I disagree on it being "talented". Talented would be if he filled the stands ;)

LOL I tried to fill the stands but, that is pretty hard to do. I hope you don't mind me messing with it.

Sorry it's taken a while to reply, but my day job (that pays for my photography gear) has kept me swamped this week.

I debated on that but wasn't sure myself. I thought it might just be the perspective. I'm glad someone else mentioned it.

I don't mind your playing with the pic at all. That was a good pass with the stands! As soon as I get some time to play, maybe I'll give it a go myself. I have some ideas...

I thought as much, but that's one reason I still have the unretouched original, and this was more for practicing Photoshop skills to see if I could do it.

Getting out to try to get those shots was my first excursion to a college sporting event to shoot, so that was a learning experience. This part for Photoshop was also for learning to see what could be applied to other photos, not necessarily sports related. This was for fun!

Maybe others will post some other Photoshopped sports photos... for FUN!!

Very Cool, lauderdalems!! I like that effect. It transforms the whole mood of the photo. Which effect/process did you use in PS to transform the image?
