I found this interesting on a visceral level. I can't even really say why...

Is this a creation or a photo of a painting?

It was a print of a painting that was applied to a power box of some kind to beautify it. But over the years it's peeling away, and it's been tagged. I think it's the way it's lit by the sun through the trees that drew me too it.

It should not matter, but the knowing what it is makes it seems much more powerful. I agree -- it digs at you a bit in an entertaining way.

I think that you caught it with the light hitting it just right. The tagging helps this image to tell a story of urban life.

When I started to comment, I was going in the philosophical direction
(ya know, a-holes tagging and all that) but it would be another exercise in futility.

Chris, ya nailed the light.
Bill and Matt, IMHO, it's a sad commentary on urban life.

I like how it says "DRUGS" in the lower left corner.

That part goes without saying, unfortunately. I suppose that I am just getting too old because I have this outdated view that society ought to be growing into a better place.

It's not outdated Bill, it's that seed that is placed in some of the lucky few, the ones that try to make things better.
It just never works out.
Oh, maybe it does in the short term and for a select few, but it is destined to fail in the long term.

A read of Greek History shows that they suffered from the same social ills that we do and
that Socrates was reported to have said that the young are going to hell (seriously paraphrased).

All we can do is reach out and touch some folks, can't hurt, maybe help.

Aw hell, I wasn't going to go there. ;)

Good eye Chris.....on a good note, tagging here is on the fast downslide, they have painted the power boxes all over town, dedicating certain areas to say the RCMP, Firehall etc.all done in silhouettes depicting the subjects.they haven't been touched.

There are still areas that will be forever tagged, but if they stay there, its a good thing.

I've seen this image a thousand times, but the lighting yesterday just caught me. I see it almost every day when I go to pick my wife up from work, and it's never been more than an eyesore before.

I am drawn to the purple tag in close proximity to the exposed green paint.

Hoff: I also have my eye drawn to the Drugs in the corner. Maybe that's the message :)

It looks like a pretty good background for some urban copy and paste stuff....
