Avro Vulcan B-2 : XH558 : Farnborough display 07/20

Perhaps this will go down as one of the greatest aircraft restorations of all time...

The Avro Vulcan (along with the Victor and Valiant - all known as the "V-Bombers") were the mainstays of the UKs "cold-war" nuclear force. The Vulcan last saw active duty in the Falklands conflict in 1982...

This Vulcan has finally been retored to flight after a 10 year program of work! An outstanding feat!

Nice pics. I've seen another thread similar to yours and they both have made me wonder if the restoration is a government/military based or privately funded one?

It's a privately funded charity, that relies almost entirely on public donations...

It's hard to believe there's little more than a decade between the design of the Lancaster and the Vulcan. It just goes to show how a war will drive technology.

Are they still doing the near-vertical climb like they used to do in the original displays?..."V-force scramble" being played over the tannoy?

Regrettably not... I suspect that would be a step too far these days... but I can remember seeing Vulcans & Victors at Biggin Hill many, many moons ago, along with the Lightning - all of which put on stunning shows...
