Are there any other car mounts available? I'm aware of the groofwin pod and one made by kirk, both are about $250.

That one won't work as it only supports 5.5lbs. I will be using the 500L with 1.5x TC attached to a 40D.

I don't mind paying $250 for one, but was just wondering what others are available.

Wow a 500? Why dont you just get one of those bean bag deals and set the lens directly onto that?

Don't know as I'd want to put that on a rolled down car window . . .

Just do a search for Spotting Scope window mount. There are a lot of less expensive options out there. Heck, Nikon has a $30 one you can buy (if you want to paint over the Nikon :) )

Well I'm going to bring my old thread back to the top as I never made a decision last year.

As for the previous suggestions, the bean bag would do, but I like have all the movement of my tripod head (something the bean bag wouldn't be able to do).

Jon, they don't attach to the window, but to the door/door panel. Then you attach a head of your choice to it.

Vetteography, spotting scope mounts do not work as they won't hold 8.5+ pounds.

Ok so now that I got all of the old suggestions out of the way. Does anyone have any other brands that do the same as the two I mentioned in the first post? Budget is still around $250.
