Tiger Stadium is being demolished to make way for new development. Old news, I know. However, they're really moving on this now.

If you're in the area, be sure to get your shots while you still can. I'd give them a few more months at this pace, and it's going to be nothing but an empty lot. Just be sure to bring a ladder or a vehicle you can stand up on the roof of, otherwise you'll never get a good shot over top of the fence.

Shot taken around 11am on July 23.

I can remember seeing games there, man it was a dump, but it was a very cool dump to watch a game at.

Lots of good memories there its sad to see it go.....but COMERICA PARK has made up nicely for the loss. I'm sure in the future my kids will say the same about COMERICA.

It's about time it came down but there was absolutely no use for the structure AND the cost of maintaining it yearly was a waste of money. I was part the renovate the stadium and don't build Comerica Park crowd. If Boston could do it why couldn't have Detroit?

Are there lots of souviner hunters lurking?? Thanks for posting.

Hunters? Virtually none.. it's under the watchful eye of security. I heard a rumor that they're trying to do a green tear down, and that all of the materials are being recycled if it's possible.

I've seen people who got photos when the security left their post, so I'd imagine you 'could' get lucky and go hunting for stuff to take home, but I don't think it'd go over very well if you got caught. Judging by what you can still see is left in there, I wouldn't be surprised to see another "tiger stadium memorabilia" auction before all is said and done.

Nice shot. The reason they are recycling everything is they are not actually getting paid to do the job. They are payed by the scrap.

That last section hanging out on the right looks about where I sat the first time I was ever in TS !

A nice memory for me was those very front rows were so low to the field, you were below the ground line and looked-up slightly to follow the action. The players looked huge coming at you.

I hope they are going to put a home plate marker with suitable signage in the sidewalk of whatever comes next as a memorial to this place.
