Check Yahoo small business. Very easy to check website names & fairly inexpensive to create a website. You only pay 3 months at a time so you are not locked into a full year commitment. Plus I think you have 30 days to decide if you like it. I have used it for about 3-1/2 months now. So far so good!!

We had this exact same issue. Our company is comprised of a husband/wife team (I'm the 2nd shooter while she is the primary) and originally we created our business as an entity (i.e. ##### Photography).

The problem we came across was when it came to referrals. This is how previous clients usually respond when asked about who took their photos...

  1. ###### Photography
  2. Caroline Tran from ###### Photography was our photographer
  3. Caroline Tran was our photographer
Our conclusions...
1. was our actual business name, but it just didn't seem very personal
2. was just incredibly long and seemed like too much information
3. identified the primary photographer, but if the referring person the actual company name, the new customer might not be able to find our website/contact info.
From a marketing perspective, we decided that changing our business name to the primary photographer's name worked best.
