Problems w/ ef 85mm 1.8?

i recently about the ef 85mm 1.8 from newegg...and the first week it was good...but now when i put the lens on my 40D, the aperture reads 00. i turned off the camera, took off the lens and put it back on, same thing. only after a few tries, the 00 is gone. any suggestion?

May be try cleaning the contacts on the camera and the lens.

how do you clean it? sorry, im still a newbie at this

rubbing alcohol and a qtip... lightly rub the gold colored contacts with a dipped tip. You can probably use windex and a paper towel if those aren't handy.
