But essentially a light meter, (incident), will tell you what the camera settings should be *before* the event. The histogram will tell you how the exposure was *after* the event. BiLL

You missed the entire point--owning a meter and grey card is not what separates you pro's from us hackers. It's the ability to use all the tools at your disposal to get an acceptable result. And a healthy dose of experience doesn't hurt Middle age is when you can finally afford the things that a young man could truly enjoy.
