i just bought this sigma flash and it is making an awful racket. its louder than my autofocus on my lens. ive never used a ettl before is this normal?

Without actually being able to hear it, I would guess that it is normal. I know the Sigma 500 Super I just got is fairly loud, at least compared to my 430EX. ok thanks i did not know that. it was freaking me out sounded like getting your dollar back from a coke machine. canon 40d/ canon 100-400 L IS 5.6
