I've only been shooting for about 5-6 months, still got a lot to learn! I used the 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6, 24mm f/2.8 (both borrowed), and my 50mm f/1.8, with my 20D. All post processing done in Adobe Lightroom. All shot in RAW as well.

I know some of the skies are blown out, but I was exposing for the ground and don't really know how to expose both the ground and the sky properly (short of HDR of course; but I didn't have a tripod).

Any and all help and suggestions are appreciated! I (as an amateur) don't see any problems with them, but I'd just like to see what the experts have to say. Basically, I'd just like to learn how to improve as a photographer.

seems like the color are too saturated, are you do that in purpose? for example, the man's skin color is very reddish.

No, not on purpose... just thought it had a little more "punch" with more saturation. As I said, I'm pretty new at this. So it would look better less saturated?

Way to over saturated. Although it kind of works on number 2. The rest just look unreal. If have never seen blue jeans the color that the men in 6 are wearing. A little saturation can add punch as well as a little contrast.

Agree..desaturate and see what happens.

"Any and all help and suggestions are appropriated!"

I think you mean appreciated!:D

(And I agree with everyone else - far too over-saturated. You will probably learn that, in most aspects of post-processing, 'Less is More')

#1 and #2 work for me - I like both. While the colours in #1 are not natural, I think the effect is pleasing - and lends a retro, almost cross processed look to the image which I feel flatters it. #3 does nothing for me personally.

I'd say the colour problems in the other images are not just down to saturation - it seems there's contrast issues there too - almost like you've gone for a faux HDR look by cranking the fill light right up in ACR, or by heavily running shadows/highlights across the images in Photoshop.

If you post some unedited shots up here I could possibly show you some other ways of achieving colour saturation without making the shots look overly synthetic.

The one of the scene in front of the Oddfellows temple is the one I like best. Heres my take on it with even less saturation...

Whoa that B&W looks neat! care to explain how it was post processed? My guess is desaturate, up contrast, and up brightness?

To OP, I like the stair rail shot the best.
