So I just got back from a HUGE Volkswagen and Audi meet over the weekend and as I was editing my shots I really liked how the color of this car came out and I wanted to try selective color on the photo, which I had heard a lot about on some forums. So I found a pretty simple tutorial and tried it out on these two images. There is also a vertical shot of another car below, which by the way, adds a whole different perspective on things!

Please note that this was not a real car shoot, as it was just a HUGE meet with lots of cars parked in spots with people looking at them. Your critiques are greatly appreciated.

Well, I'm not really a fan of car shots and I don't usually care for desaturations or anything either but I will say that for a first attempt, these are pretty well done. The one comment I do have is that towards the back end of the car in that first shot, there looks to be a little discoloration...looks like maybe a blue car was parked next to the one you shot and the color from the other car bled over a little in the reflection. I also might have tried using a polarizer there to cut down on some of those reflections too.

Otherwise, again for a first attempt, not bad at all.

Peace,
Jim

I took suggestions from others around the internet and gave a shot at giving the background more color rather than being completely black and white. Maybe this is a bit better -- what do you think?

The back and of the car is still a little off to me, I would try to clean that up a bit, as for the desaturation, I think the second attempt at the first picture looks the best of all three...
