Was watching the Tour de France last night live on our local satelite sports channel.

The 195km leg which took them over the Alps showed the fantastic and breathtaking scene of the alps with the cyclist and spectators against the snow capped peaks in the distance.

Spectators who had camped there for several days to mark their spot and guaranteed of a view were happily snapping away as the tour approached. Me, viewing from my couch was also thrilled and awed by the heights as the helicopter shot many scenic views of the event from above. Surely our forum members were there.

Hope to see your shots of Tour de France in this thread.

Defiantly an amazing stage yesterday. I would have killed to be a photog on the back of the motorcycle then.

The shots should be coming. Remember they are in the Alps, some camped there for a week, you should have seen the camping trailers parked all along the roadside leading up and down the mountains. Hope they see this thread when they are back on their desk and computer.

I'd like to even see those pictures. Peter Ho I have no idea of where your from but it seams here where I live they cover just the riders. I would love to see more of the "race" the fans, the surrounding areas, the parades. I go to a quite a few bike races in the area and understand that there is more to the race than just bikes going really fast from point "a" to point "b".

Because they were all official photogs. This means they all got a go on the back of the motor bike. Its easier just to leave the helmet on your head.

Good timing to catch the yellow jersey rolling by at 55kph at the same time the guy is holding the paper so you can see it.

Talk about forsight, patience, and LUCK! (unless it's a friend of the photographer: "okay, hold the paper open just like this until I tell you to stop".

The L'Equipe cover is from the time trial. The bike and helmet would be different.

Would the Tour have a team that all wears yellow jerseys if the race leader's jersey is yellow?

;)
