Man'o'man......
Me and the wife did our taxes (she's getting her CPA soon, BTW) and we found out that we'll be getting back close to $4500 this year

Me: "Awesome! So I can get that 70-200 f/2.8 that I've always wanted right?!" :D

Her: *evil glare with daggers in her eyes*

Me: *sigh* Nevermind. :(

Looks like it's furniture for the living room and the rest goes towards remodelling the downstairs bathroom. *grumbles*

But even if you buy the lens, you'll still be left with well over half the money. ;)
Make a compromise. Or if she wants some big leather piece, just let her know the 3 piece is unavailable, and you can only get a armchair. :D
And even offer to sit on the floor. :)

The non-IS version for just over a grand, what's her problem? ;)

Hmmmm, I think I would try the well your furniture is newer than my current lens. :D Or go shopping with her and make sure you say everything is priced too high. If you can't get what you want, neither should she. ;)

And after all this, and your still in the house, you can let us know how it went. :D

Your first question should have been: "I guess I can make a down payment on that new BMW motorcycle ?".

**** Evil Look from wife *****

Your reply: "OK, I'll settle for the 70-200 f/2.8 lens".

Sounds like the new Harley Davidson commercial. " I was trying to decide between buying a harley and a new dining room set. I went with the dining room set." ( stupid look on his face)

Try telling her the lens will give you something to do while she's working hard during tax season. That should clinch the deal.

Maybe you could try this: tell her that with that good lens you can take such awesome photographs of furniture that she'll be able to look at it any time she likes on the computer and it will be just like owning it. (Make that computer chair really comfy.)
