BARC Championship Racing, Croft 19/20 July 2008

I was also at Croft Circuit last weekend for the BARC Championship Race Weekend. The weather was mixed, but that did add a little excitement into some of the proceedings. Anyway, on to some pictures: -

#1 Formula Renault running wide at Sunny Out. Three red flags this lot had in their qualifying session.....

#2 The sun came out for the Classic Clubmans qualifying on Saturday.

#3 But it didn't last long, and the rain was falling within an hour or so.

#4 These older Formula Renaults look much better than their more modern counterparts.

#5 The VW Beetle of Ian Humpish at Tower

#6 Formula Ford 1600 - now these were a pleasure to watch!

#7 Some slightly more 'mature' touring cars!

#8 Winner of the first Formula Renault race (Nathan Coulter) leads the winner of the second race (#27) into Tower Bend.

All of the pictures were taken using a 1D mk II and a Sigma 500mm f4.5 lens. There's a whole pile more pictures from the weekend on my website (link in signature below) for those that are interested.

Jeez simon, 1,2,4,6 and 8 for me. The colours are just so rich and appear absolutely spot on. The whites on no 6 do not look blown to me so how you've managed this i dont know (experience and spot on exposure probably!).

Do you shoot in manual mode and how much post processing, if any, do you do?
Would love to get to this level...think it may take a while though....if ever!

Thanks Rick.

I try to get eveything right in camera at the time of taking the picture. I shoot in raw, so everything is post processed in that sense. However, all I tend to do is very slight exposure tweaks - it is very rare that I do anything else. As for shooting manual, I did for a period on Saturday as the cars were running with headlights on. The majority of the time I shoot in Tv mode.

Was there myself on Sunday but home PC is dwn at moment so not able to get pictures off

Thanks Peter. I find the new shape Beetles very photogenic, although I think I preferred Ian's when he had it in the yellow and green livery a couple of years ago.
