John, I understand your concerns. I know you are a big proponent of not using these 'cheap', 'unusable', 'vibration inducing,' run of the mill crap. I get it. I've read lots of posts for, and against, and for and against. Until the day I 'want' to invest in a $500+ head/tripod combo, I will. For now, and probably the next couple of years, it'll suffice. Would I attach my cam and 400L to it and walk down a steep grade...no. I wouldn't trust anything to hold that...no matter how much it cost. So, please, as a 'non-user' of the cheapies, don't spoil it for the rest of us...we know what we buy, when we make that decision. Let us spoil it for ourselves. Maybe we'll learn then???
Lee, the new head should be here in a couple of days (probably Thursday). I'll test it out over the weekend, and let you know how it goes. Might have to go watch a moonrise by the pier, and take some night shots. I've got one other person that 'might' want to buy the one I don't keep, but, I'll let you know.
Now that I've used the head a bit more, post tightening the screws, it's much better. Plus, I'm getting more and more used to the design, so, it's making it easier to operate.
Cheers, for now.
