Went to my first semi-pro game today. It was pretty cool to roam around the stadium. I think they all could have benefited from faster shutter speed but oh well. Shot with my new acquired 30D and 70-210mm lens at 210mm.

Shutter speeds are way too slow for ball. Yes, it's a slow game, but movements are fast and you need to be up at 1/1000 or even more to really freeze action. Your best shot above are the pitcher shots and even those look soft. I realize you are limited by your lens at f4.5 and by the existing light (dusk and stadium lights). Also, batter shots are most often the best when they are coming out of their swing, not with head down looking at ball as you can't see faces. Wait till they follow through and you can get some good shots. There are other recent threads here by me and by Matt Sauk (AthleticsPhotog) that show some examples of this.
Cheers!
Chris
