When you have a small space you have to deal with your main light spilling onto the background, the walls on the side getting in the shot, etc. With space like you have you can separate the main light from the background light and don' have to worry as much about light bouncing all over the place.

You want honest? i was looking for an answer that is so deep or analytic about my space, like to say place your model 6ft far from background, place your main 4-5ft left or right your model, place your hair light at specific distance and so on, now all of you saying that it is good enough space so now i hope i can locate and place my lights and model in proper distances within that space.

Two offers for two arms now; how about posting some pics guys?

pics of what, a studio space or works from the studio? if the second one then check most of my "people" sharing posts and you can see my daughters shots, and i hope now after more lights and another background [paper seamless] i can do better.

I don't think anyone can tell you how to set up your lights. it all depends on the type of shot you want to create. You need to just set up in there and start to experiment with distances & power settings.

I think it's a consensus that that space is plenty big enough for a studio and many are jealous that they don't have a space that large (including myself)

That space is plenty for groups of 4 to 6. The ceiling height and depth dimensions limit you a little bit.

Ultimately, the ceiling will be more than 12ft. and the walls a neutral gray or black, to reduce any reflection from walls. 16ft is probably just enough for a 1/2, maybe even a 3/4 shot of a small group with an 85mm and full frame. If I were you, I'd take advantage of the full length of the space and move the bg towards one of the narrow walls.

Maybe i will think to do that, i can't change the height of the ceiling, but i have to get used to it, and the color of the walls i don't think i will do it, my dad or family will kick my .... so i have to work with that space same conditions, i have another room but the dimensions are tighter [about 3.5x4.5m] and the ceiling in that room is strange because it is in triangle shape [11ft one side of the wall and about 8ft opposite side].
And yes, i was thinking to work with 24-70 [24-105] or 85, but i was looking to work with 135 as well.
