Had passes to shoot the Bills training camp today. Didn't shoot to much, being the second day there's only shorts/jersey and backgrounds of course are a mess with so much going on. Some random samples, all with the Mark IIn, 1.4, 300 2.8 IS. Mostly M or AV mode in some maybe. EXIF embedded.

Yea, I know it's a baseball watermark...gotta work on a football one I guess.

Just emailed ya before seeing this...well, it was a bit odd at first when I got there I got sent to another lot, who sent me back to the original lot but a right instead of a left, etc. etc. All in all I was about 20 mins late to the field. Access was extremely easy, got my pass in a snap and walked right to the field where a security guard let me on the field and it was a go from there (where you pick up the passes was internet for live feeds as well). Like a regular season game they have that yellow line for media but we weren't supposed to stand in the middle of the field (25-25 yard lines). I did this not knowing and a guy from the Bills came up, addressed me by first name and let me know about the 25-25 "rule". Very pleasant and professional environment, I say he addressed by first name because so many times we're addressed as "hey you" so that little detail is good to see. It was well run for sure, hopefully shooting them will become a regular gig - games wise as training camp there's just not much usage from it.

Great shots Mike! I'm taking my son on Monday.

Question: What do you need to show to gain access to the field?

Media passes issued by the team, fans are right behind us shooting 10 feet or so. It's a nice setup.

I shot from the end zone last year. So my field of view was obviously limited.

Was curious if the "average Joe" with a camera and a BIG lens (moi :D) but no media creds can get access too.

Thanks.

Definately not, there's reason media is given access fans are not. Security is there checking passes and keeping the crowd moving from the field entrance way. You can stand on the upper level and some fans were shooting from up there with ok glass (70-200's) and some media members jumped in the crowd to shoot from above to, but they had 400's and 1.4's.

Great shots, all of them. Excellent capture of Hardy especially.

Did the 300 with the 1.4 get in that close or is that cropped a little?

Hopefully I'll get something half as good to put on my kid's wall. ;)

The Hardy catching is the near sideline and not cropped much at all. Everything else was mid-field so the dead space was cropped out. Hard to guess without knowing what lens/body (crop factor) you have. 300+1.4 on the near sidelines should get you close enough.

I worn you Canadians, western NY'ers may invade and try to take them back by force if it ever happens! and that's our invade face...

Everyone does feel a bit ripped off and that we should have gotten something in return, for example a couple Blue Jays games - especially since it's our rival game vs. Miami. Moving that game up there isn't a bad idea because the real Bills fans will follow and a lot of Toronto people will come to see the rivarly. Still think the Jays should play a series in Buffalo, they'd sell out in a minute and have to put the OF bleacher seats back in for those games.

Wilson ensures the games in Canada are to expand the market and keep the team in Buffalo, and he hasn't let us down yet...I think as long as he's owner they will expand and play some games up there but not leave entirely. Toronto Bills, just the sound makes me a little sick to my stomach :p
