setup:
20D + 3 Bowens Esprit 500 heads.

problem:
When trying to shoot outdoors with one head connected via a cable the remaining heads do not fire (probably due to ambient light).

I do not have money to burn on pocket wizards as this set up is only needed for a handful of shots.

solution A:
Are any of these wein products suitable for outdoor use?
http://www.weinproducts.com/ssr.htm (external link)
According to this page: http://www.tallyns.com/Wein/WeinSlv.htm (external link)
The wein SSL and SSL-E are suitable for outdoor use but does anyone have experience of these?

solution B:
If I go the cable route What kind of set up would be needed?
3 sync leads and a splitter. would that be all that was needed?

cheers for any help.

I think you would have to go for radio triggers in this situation as IR or visible light flashes are going to get drowned in bright ambient light and you also don't have anything to reflect the flash back to the other slaves.

I would suggest PC cords and a 3 way splitter. Only make sure you don't have people walking about tripping over them and pulling your strobes down with them.

Cheers

Ian
