Leica Black/Silver M7 - $3,695 (external link)
Leica Black M7 - $4,395 (external link)

Does camera color really mean that much in today's world? Who cares if it's dual tone black and silver? It's a Leica.

Fashion. Plain n simple. If you really need an all black one, use a magicmarker.

Strange that this only seems to be the case for the M7, not the M8 or MP...

This way you can tell that anyone clutching a black M7 is either so rich that money has no meaning to them or vain to the point of utter stupidity.

The black is so 'Bad'
Besides, the black ones are spy cameras, that's why they cost more.

It's like the difference between buying a black Lamborghini Gallardo and a silver Lamborghini Gallardo. It doesn't matter what color it is, it's a Lamborghini Gallardo, FFS.

:D "Back when", no pro would be seen with a chrome body even though they wore better. The longer you'd been using black, the more brass showed through.
One "advantage", as in rationalization, was that it wouldn't reflect in some subjects. Most of us carried a black focusing cloth to put over our heads, though.
Recently some dufus painted his 300D black! Another asked if a hand held meter would make him look more like a "professhional". Yeah, he spelled it wrong!

Those old wooden tripods had a place to hang the cloth when you weren't using it, right? :p

:D Good one, Leo! We didn't have to worry about using that technique around an airport, or government buildings, though!

Easier to hang it on your assistant!
