580 exii for weddings

hi there.... i was thinking of getting the 580 exii for weddings or do you think it is better to get a metz flash..? Also is the 580 easy to use...and do you normally just set it to auto and it does all the exposure compensations for you???

first of all, you could better post this question in the lighting section.
Then, yes, the 580 is the best flash you can get. When you want to play for safe you could set the flash to ETLL and it will do its job very well.
But you really need to learn how to work with an external flash to get good results with it though...

i dunno about that being the best since there is a quantum package for weddings. but i have a 580ex and use it all the time, it works really well. and i use the the cpe3 with it for faster recycle.

I may someday buy a CP-e4 or quantum turbo for mine, but I don't know that the 580 has enough power output to justify a pack, because a lot of my flash is off-camera now, and in many situations that works better for me.

I used my 580EX for a wedding yesterday, but it was not my sole flash.

CP-E3/CP-E4 is a huge help at weddings, it reduces your charge time by 2/3. You have to be careful not to burn the flash out, but I haven't done that yet.
