Good idea, J&D - I'm going to try that. I normally just set for +/- 2.0 EV, then quickly move the center over / under 1 and snap again (shooting in Manual). It goes pretty fast and works well except when it's windy or clouds are moving fast. You do end up with a few extra shots to delete.

nice pics and thanks for the feedback everyone. I will have to now consider the 40D as I had liked everything I herd about it and this method of shooting looks ok. Would this method of shooting still work on some of the models below like the Rebel XSI & the EOS 450?

Like I said before, tripod, proper knowledge of your camera, and few people, can mean great HDR (and horrible ones) from any camera, be it a 1d, 40d, 450d, 1000d, G9, or SD750.

I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.

ok then, so I should not really worry about the type of camera as most will do HDR I'm understanding. I just got the impression it was a lot easier with some cameras than others. I guess I should just decide on what camera I want for everything else and not be concerned with HDR capability as nearly any camera will do it.

I do it exactly like J&D except I have the -2,0,+2 bracket set up on C3 so I can turn the dial to the stop without looking at it (and come back to C2 by feel if I want the 1 stopper). I use the same camera and lens.

Hi all,

I thought this would be relevant here ...

Have just watched Bert Monroy's latest episode [#92] over @ http://revision3.com/pixelperfect/ (external link)

He has Ben Willmore ...

reveal the tips, tricks and secrets behind creating amazing images using High Dynamic Range techniques.

He uses Photoshop to do the merging and Photomatix to look after the tonemapping.

Well worth a look :D ...

cheers.
J&D
