Well Im starting to process some of my images from last sundays trip to the Woodland Park Zoo and I was very eager to view my very first attempts at BIF. Both shots were taking in AV mode iirc, EXIF intact and AI Servo. Both were shot with the 70-200F$L IS.

I didnt think that I had any keepers looking at the LCD screen and when I came home I thought that was the case until I came across this image of a hawk. Im not sure what kinda hawk this is, but the lady doing the bird show said that they can dive at upwards of 200mph.

This was the most in focus image I had of the hawk, this thing was FAST. I was also seated, but this Image was the first shot Ive taken that had that warm fuzzy feeling. I still smile from ear to ear when I look at it, despite being slightly oof.

Here was an Owl, sorry about the lack of ID on these as I was more interested in snapping pics than learning about birds... I would say that about 50% of my owl shots were sharp in focus, but then again this guy was not nearly as fast as the hawk, this was the only one without background clutter and the least blown highlights.

Both images were cropped with slight contrast and brightness adjustments and then resized all within DPP. I havent setup Photoshop or Lightroom on my PC yet since switching to Vista64. No sharpening after resize, tho both could use a little USM.

There are shots I have taken that people ripped apart but I still like them. The shots you show here look good to me and they bring good memories for you which is priceless....Jeff

Once you get a few under your belt you'll think nothing of shooting BIF ;), well done.

Thank you! I gotta say tho, you bird shooters are amazing. Birds are quite a challenge but the reward is 100x more than any other animal Ive shot. Seems they almost always contrast very well with their enviroments, or atleast the birds Ive been shooting. I definately need something longer than 200mm now.
