I saw the biggest snake I've ever seen in Colorado at this site yesterday. :) I think it was a bull snake, not too sure, but it was a good 6 feet long, hissed and me and turned and scooted away.

Here is one looking the other direction. This "sculpture" is between the train bridge and Highway 36

One more with a train:

Well, I went over to the Nature forum to look for a picture of the snake. Nothing to be found.

Rusted farm equipment is almost a cool as old barns.

I want to see the snake, train wrecks are everywhere.

What is that stuff? An old car or truck frame or parts from a train car?

Thanks Eric, sorry I didn't get a shot of it, had the wrong lens on and was totally "rattled" so even though I tried I was too late and left my other camera with a longer lens in the car. I did get a shot of another one a the local pond, but it's not really worth posting.

Well then let's see 'em. I've been intrigued by this since I first saw it. Certainly if it was closer to a museum it would be art, but since its "installed" in a sandy dry creek area I'm guessing it is for erosion control and judging by the vegetation that is growing around some of it, I'd say it's working - as well as rabbits, birds and snakes. :)

Well, I don't generally react that way to snakes, but yeah it did startle me for a second and I definitely stepped back quickly and by the time I realized I needed a pic, it had all but disappeared into the wreckage. Guess I just don't have the photographers instinct when it comes to preserving my hide.

Ha, I do. I was out on Aligator Alley one weekend and walking toward the canal when this monster rattle snake started rattling and coiled up into a round rug looking thing 3 feet across. I was looking at the ground when I first heard it, next think I knew, I was 8 feet back in one step, and don't remember doing it.

Well neither, seems neither one of us cared for the other much, so we mutually agreed to go our separate ways. :)

Okay so for those curious, here a link to the shot in the nature forum of the snake from today, not the snake I saw, but definitely the same markings, color, species.

Thanks Avi, glad you like it, I think its for erosion control, or maybe a misplaced art installation. :) It appears to be mostly old car/truck frames that are embedded in the ground and tethered together and held in place with wire and cables.
