we have thunderstorms here, it's supposed to rain all day! uhhggg! oh well.

Adam, that is the norm here too! very few people buy big ticket items like a house when they can afford them. my wife and I are just being our atypical selfs and doing things different :) we will most likely still have to borrow some money... but want to be able to pay it off quickly...

anyway gotta run, or I'll be late for my 0800 meeting :) W00T!

It seems like there are 2 kinds of norms in our area...those who rent because they "can't afford" to buy (ie. they prefer to buy other "things" or travel) and those who buy but can't afford it, lol..and still buy other things and travel.

We got lucky, I guess...bought a home, can't do a ton with it yet, but we're doing what we can, where we can, and love it because of that.

Good morning people. I'm exhausted. Ian fussed from 1am until about 4:30 am. Corey took an hour shift in there so I had some time for some REM and really weird dreams. Still, not enough. No more beer for me.

But I still don't see any typo's.

I don't think there's a portland Washington, Portland Oregon (OR) is just south of their borders though.

I finally got some rest, but I crashed so hard my bones wanted to crack when I got up... Sleep is becoming one of those bad either way things for me...

Adam, I wanna see pics of your apartment! Not like any of us are going to come rob it, LOL!

Morning Doodle, yay for some quiet time! Hope it lasted long enough to regroup.

Z, I want rain and thunder! Grab a hot cocoa or lemonade (whichever sounds better this morning) and enjoy a few moments of it for me, OK?

Hey, I rent cause I can't afford a house. We also have "only" one car because we can't fathom another car payment or upkeep for a car we don't get new. Sure we travel (have to we live 1600 miles away from family) and get the occasional goodies (ie camera equipment and computer stuff) but those things cost far less than another car or a house... It's not a situation I love but we get along. I kinda resent the implication that just because I rent doesn't mean I could afford a house but choose to be frivolous instead... Sorry, just hit a nerve since my own family and friends give me a hard time about it...

You can get a "small" house that you don't like and have out grown and are stuck with.

We all do what we can. I live in a house that needs some remodeling, a new set of windows, and insulation.

LOL, we live in a house that needs those things too, and a lot more.

Windows would really help!
Insulation sounds great!

I'm sorry Kay, I didn't mean to offend at all. There's just an awful lot of people here that we know (and I'm sooooooooooo not judging those that I don't) who are really frivolous. I admire you a lot for not living beyond your means, you know? Its a hard, hard thing to do when people are pressuring you all around, even when you own. Our home is older, so its not as "spiffy" as a lot of people's, and I've got a few "friends" who look down on us for that...especially because I "could" go back to work, rather than run a business from home and stay home with the kids.

I'm really sorry, didn't mean to offend at all.

Tiff...beer gives me weird dreams too. Ice cream gives weirder ones though. I'm sorry you didn't get much sleep.
