that is horrible electricity bill!!! Are you sure that nobody is stealining electricity from you? that sounds like an aweful leak! Yikes! I never pay over 175 for my power! and that is in the dead of winter, when we have to run the heater! (we need new insulation too! but the place is pretty small so we just have a little space heater that works pretty well. besides just running the computer will keep the place from freezing! that thing does put out some heat!

$340 a month here on the budget plan which means we pay this amount every month all year round. House clocks in at about 800 sq ft.

Free Food FTW! glad you enjoyed the meal Jeff. maybe I should look into these scrabble competitions! I'm not too bad at the game.

Ouch. Last months SHOULD be our biggest of the year. It get's down to about $80 in the winter, but when we don't have a baby we keep it at 60-62 degrees...

When my wife was working during the day I would have our set back thermostat set at about 62. And because it feels drafty in our house in the winter 67 feel super cold. So we have the thermostat set at 69. Out ac runs almost daily in the summer, we get about 30 days with no heat or air. At work sometimes we run heat in the morning and ac in the afternoon.

Talk about insulation... My Dad was a HVAC tech (Heating, ventilation, and Air conditioning) and says that a freezer and fridge runs the best full or almost full, because it doesn't have to keep heating and cooling air... Same principal applies to larger spaces.

And we have almost no attack space for insulation on a capecod, the drywall is right up to the roof rafters, which doesn't allow the insulation behind it to work properly. The air can't circulate, when they put the drywall insulation up they were supposed to put troughs in each rafter cavity and then put insulation in to allow for better circulation. To costly to rip out all the drywall and replace, and I'm bad at drywall.

wow that is COLD! well... I could handle it. but my wife needs it over 70 or she is cold! good news is we dont' have to turn the AC on until it gets over 85 in the summer. I have a MUCH wider range of comfort!

Edit: I got inturrupted in the middle of writing this post....

We have ours at 62 during the day and 67-68 at night for heat. It's too cold for me but if we have it any hotter the 2nd floor is stifiling. I think we spent upwards of $400/month last winter on fuel oil. Our electric/water is not usually above $120/month and cheaper in the winter depending on how many baths I take to get warm. ;) Our house is 1600 poorly insulated square feet. We have a huge attic (almost a half a story) that you can see where they nailed the shingles. The nails stick right out of the ceiling. Our walls are all plaster though and I'm sure there's no insulation behind them.

Both boys are sleeping soundly in their beds. I'm finally eating lunch at 2pm. I love being a mom. :D (I really do love it...it's just taking time to make the transition from 1 kid to 2)

I'm sure.... I think Nicole is as well (Natalie's sister). It's awkward enough for me and I am just the brother in law haha.
