I've been through several earthquakes, and while I tend to be pretty cavalier about them, I don't much enjoy them. I was very near the epicenter of the 1989 Loma Prieta Quake, and that was the biggest I ever care to experience. It was a killer, and it did about $70K damage just to our house.

The thing about a quake is that you really can't do very much to protect yourself. Maybe you can find a doorway to duck into or a table to crawl under, but if you're under a table and the roof collapses, you're toast regardless.

Just last night, the local news had a feature telling how we're overdue for 'the big one.' Personally, I can wait. I'd just as soon it never comes.

You might think you'd like to experience an earthquake, but for your sake, you should probably specify a 'small earthquake.'

Ironic. We just had a little 'jolt' about a half hour ago. Barely noticeable. If I had been asleep, I certainly wouldn't have noticed it.

Ho ho.

Me!! I'm shaking. Actually, it was only a 2.8 quake. We don't even acknowledge quakes that small.

Unfortunately the earth quake thing is why I refrain from traveling to California. The terrorist thing keeps me out of New York and Adam keeps me out of Dubai. Though they say the Midwest is over a large fault line also.

Good morning folks! Ian slept all night! Well, he woke up to nurse but I don't count that. I'm still tired though because he woke up really good at 6 to nurse and 40 minutes later he was still pigging out. Aidan came in shortly after. I think I got 20 minutes of sleep in there somewhere. The only reason I know that is because of a weird dream I had where the English teacher showed up at a staff meeting topless, I couldn't find my classroom, and my bro left me all of Corey's PJ shorts outside of my locker. Weird.

My one hour break last night was a bust. I couldn't find any clothes I liked at the store. Oh, well. It saved me money. I did buy a toaster yesterday morning. I've been eyeing it up for years. The old toaster finally ticked me off for good when it burned my toaster strudel while being set on the lowest possible setting. It's Corey's old toaster though. It's a hoover.

As for the earthquake thing, I've never been in one despite living in LA for a year. My mom's a CA native and says they are scary. I'm mildly curious as to what they'd be like but not enough to actually want to experience one. Same goes for tornados, blizzards, and hurricanes.
