That’s a real problem so I always calibrate my monitor as if I were going to be printing the pic. I have little control on how it’s going to look on other monitors and am sometimes surprised on how bad a pic can look on some. However, usually the person working on that monitor has become so accustom to the horrid colors that they are ok with it.

I guess this is what I'm going to have to do...but seriously, how can I see where I messed up on burning a BG better in IE than in PS?

Here's an example. The client didn't like how centered it was so I added some black to the right-hand side. I also burned the bg to blend it. On my browser at home I can clearly see where I needed to burn more but here at work I can't see any issues with the BG

I think only Firefox and some Mac browser offer color managed browsers. IE does not support it. But I wouldn't worry about online proofs for clients, not calling them stupid, but we have a much finer eye for detail.

Lol....yeah, I hear you there.

That's what I always assume (and yes, I know what that makes me), that people are used to the colors that they see, and can see the picture for what it's likely to print like if they use a good printer... Yes, I'm one of the horrible photographer that gives people their images and lets them print them.

Whatever works for you. I like the print sales. :D

Do your work on the calibrated monitor until your happy and you get what you get on the uncalibrated ones. It can't be helped

Anyway - I think that keeping your logo in one spot would help, Tiff. One size, one place. Change the color if need be, but I dont think you need to match your logo with the colors in the photo... Are you really worried about them having a 72 dpi low res file?!

Going with a proof book is a nice idea - whatever works for ya.

I'd like to keep the logo in just one place but it's a brush that I just stamp on. I'm not sure how to make that into an action with different photos (landscape/portrait) but that would be nice to do. I like matching/coordinating it to the photo personally. I'm not really worried about them ripping off a lo-res file but I read all over the boards about people doing such a thing.

Anyone want to come to my house and clean the cat box out? You can keep whatever you find, and I'll even throw in the cat.

um pass. I don't do cats.

hi. anyone else have funky dreams last night, or just me?

not last night. This morning between 7:50 and 8:30 I had a really odd out of a horror/love movie kinda odd. Still freaked me out

Honestly, this calibration crap is annoying me. Things look good in PS and then when I get them on the internet at home I notice things need more fixing and when I get to work they look completely different as well.

are you saving it in the right mode? I can't remember which one is for internet. If I don't save it in that the color comes out really wonky online.

I had a lean entrees from Meijer. Gotta work off some of that belly before T-day.

Mornin all. It is Monday again, or at least it feels that way. I have had a weird day so far. It's just not right to have a Tuesday off... it throws everyone off.

Good Morning Jeff. It feels like a Monday in my house too. The kids didn't have school and it's totally messed up my week.

I'm going to go back to filling out the millions of job applications online in a few moments. One of us needs a job. Although he might have one. We're waiting on a call back about his background check, driving record, and insurability and if that all comes back clean, which it should but some minor stupid driving crap he did when he was young, then he'll be a tow truck driver. That is a fabulous thing in the winter. There are some really stupid winter drivers around here.

The colors always look fine to me online...it's the brightness that's a little messed up. Some pics look darker online that at home and I see streaks in the black or white where I've burned or dodged. It annoys the heck out of me!

the colors looked fine to me. Might be my screen though. I've never noticed any of what your talking about with your photos.

Dont burn or dodge. Copy, paste and blend. I have gotten muvh better results if I copy a section of the background that is very close to what I'm looking for, paste it and feather the edges so it blends in seamlessly, then mearget the layers back together. I use this technique a lot when restoring old photos.

Oh ohohoh!!! I remembered my dreams and they were WEIRD!! LOL! Fish, water animals, in tanks, animals in other cages, some dangerous, all escaping, getting stuck in a (small) fish tank, moving into weird conditions, like cabins and camping, but less safe... I hate it when all my dreams flood back in halfway through the day...

That's what I've started doing...setting the blend more to burn or dodge and then adding a layer mask to mask off what I don't want burnt or dodged. Sometimes though I still need to burn/dodge some wrinkles.

Gah! This is annoying!

I don't care if it's stark or dark really....I just want wrinkles gone the lazy way that doesn't require me to steam my BG! I don't have enough room to get the subject far enough away. Honestly, this is the FIRST time I'm having such trouble. Grrr.

Use the 10-22 set at 10mm. Then you can get the subject within a foot of the lens and fill the frame. That also gives you some working distance to the BG ans lookee-here, the BG is all nice and smooth and creamy.

Just pay no attention to the huge nose in the middle of the picture. ;):)
