Hi All

It has been a very long while since I went to horseshow but we had a free entry ticket for Hickstead on saturday ~ only had to pay £6 for the parking!

I had a mixed sort of day with mixed results many of which I was happy with but the backgrounds were c***y so not showing those but managed to get some more pleasing ones of which these are the quick few to share.

The one thing that struck us was how beautifully groomed and turned out all the horse & ponies were.

That was a great meal ~ you must have a good set of pans :p

I love the second shot. For one thing, it's a sport I've never heard of or seen before so that immediately grabs me. No, it's not razor sharp but I couldn't care less. Flying hooves, wagon sliding out in the turn, driver gritting her teeth ... and her partner nonchalantly throwing his weight to the inside. Heh. In a different context they would be a sidecar team on the Isle of Man. And if one of those outside wheels happens to grab suddenly, well...

#5 too - like it for the speed and that it provides more context about the sport. Crazy mad.

Hi Evan

Thanks for looking and your feedback. They do go at some (apparent) rate of knots. Also the ponies if I recall in the 'class' shown were all 122cm or less I think that is a max of 12.2hands.

:)

Scurry Racing actually looks like a lot of fun to watch. I too, never have heard about that sport before but your pictures really make me want to go to a scurry race once to see it with my own eyes.

I love how eager the ponies look in #1; The expressions of hte drivers in 2 - as Evan had said: You're fevering with them; the motion in #5 - all those I'd hang up on my wall as a set :c)

Hi Zeanana

Yes, it is good fun to watch and the ponies do not seem to need much urging on other than the 'driver' calling out to them command and encouragement.

It is actually called Double Harness Scurry ~ I take this to be refering to the two ponies as opposed to a single one?

I will have to see if there are few more worth sharing and hope I do not break the thread/posting rules ~ might split the thread and start another one for the showjumpers;)
